Panel Discussion: Mainstream Les(bi)anisms

Last September, amidst the rise of queer subjectivities on Instagram, the artist and researcher Blanca Arias once again questioned “queerbaiting.” What gaze is hidden behind the lesbian scenes in the trendiest iconography of the moment? Is bisexuality disruptive or complacent? Where do considerations for care fit into images crafted for viral purposes?

This panel discussion will feature Blanca Arias, Virginia Cartier, and Naty Oliveira. The activity will be complemented by the screening of the documentary “Shakedown,” directed by Leilah Weinraub.
