MariClub de lectura: ‘Un lloc per a en Mungo’ de Douglas Stuart

In Mungo, from a Protestant family, and James, from a Catholic family, they live trapped between two neighborhoods of Glasgow, where working-class youths engage in territorial fights to defend their reputation. They should be bitter enemies if they want to be seen as men, but, against all odds, they forge a friendship that slowly turns into love. In a highly masculinized environment, Mungo strives to hide his true self from everyone around him, especially from his older brother, Hamish, the ruthless leader of a local gang.

🔸 How does the Mariclub work?

The idea is to have read the book (that’s why we announce the meeting well in advance) and to be willing to discuss it in the sessions we organize. The books have queer themes, and the meetings to discuss them are open to everyone. You just have to come that day and share your impressions, ask questions… Create a space where everyone can have their say and have a good time.
