🔸What’s it about?

In the 1950s, a young American flees to Paris to find himself and decide what to do with his life.
There, in a bohemian bar, he meets Giovanni, an Italian waiter who awaits his death…

Published in 1956, it’s the novel that brought recognition to James Baldwin, addressing love, masculinity, fear, homophobia, and above all, the clash between societal demands and one’s own identity. This striking story is one of the most important works in American literature, a classic of universal homoerotic literature, and, as Garth Greenwell says in his afterword, an antidote to shame.

The idea is to have read the book (that’s why we announce the meeting well in advance) and be eager to discuss it in the sessions we organize.
The books have queer themes, and the meetings to discuss them are open to everyone. Just come that day and share your impressions, ask questions… Create a space where everyone can speak their mind and have a good time.
