Whitewashing of the Queer, Ecologisms, and the Anti-Colonial
20 November, 2021 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
In the era of post-truth, many companies and influencers seek to capitalize, monetize, and exploit what they claim to be queer, ecological, and antiracist aspects. Brands have become the new activists, and activism has turned into a new way to attain social status.
However, which groups ultimately appropriate and benefit from the popularization and digitalization of these struggles? Why do we use English terms like “queer,” “gay,” “woke,” and “green” to describe practices that originate from anti-imperialism? Have these terms lost their meaning, and how can we reclaim vocabularies and practices of political action that are not merely performative and related to Catholicism?
Alongside Parchita Power, Huga, and Joyce, we will bid farewell to the activities of the cycle at the end of this year.
